If it has been a while since you had a cleaning, you may need a deep cleaning. A deep cleaning involves numbing of the mouth, going below the gums to remove any and all bacteria built up as plaque and calculus (tar) build up. After the full mouth is completed, you will be recommended to get more frequent cleanings in order to maintain the clean environment.

Dr Ahmed and staff at Platinum Dental Care monitor your health with routine x-rays and periodic exams. When we see a cavity forming, we try to notify you the soonest it’s visible and advise you on ways to keep that area clean. Cavities can disappear if proper oral hygiene is maintained or sometimes, they still can get larger requiring a filling.  We do not perform amalgam (silver) fillings and only perform composite (tooth color) fillings.

When a severely broken tooth or large cavity extends into the center of the tooth affecting the inner pulp (soft inner tissue), patients may or may not experience severe pain. In order to alleviate the pain or remove any infection, a root canal is necessary to remove the pulp (soft inner tissue), clean the infection and remove any harmful bacteria.  This may take up to 2 visits but when possible, 1 visit may accomplish this treatment. Dr Ahmed and staff do their best to be as gentle as they can be to help patients get through this procedure.

When teeth crack or have a large cavity and break over time, they require a crown to build the tooth back up to full strength and function. A crown is a permanent tooth shaped cap that fits over your natural tooth to help restore function, esthetics and strength allowing you to be able to chew, smile and speak without feeling conscious about how it looks. You are given options to pick the shade of the crown that will best match the adjacent teeth.   Crowns can last several years if it is maintained and kept clean.

When patients have a missing tooth forming a large space between teeth, a bridge is a great option. A bridge is a permanent replacement to a missing tooth requiring a crown (cap) be placed on both teeth adjacent to the gap, in addition to the missing tooth. It consists of 3 crowns that are all connected, and it is cemented on the teeth as a permanent treatment.  Just like a crown, you are given options to select a shade that matches adjacent teeth for a nice cosmetic outcome.

When patients have several missing teeth and they want something cost effective, a removable partial is a great option.  Patients are given options to pick a gum tissue shade and tooth shade that will match their existing teeth/gums. No numbing necessary and the appointments are fairly quick. Dr Ahmed works closely with the patient and lab to get the best fit possible. Since it is removable, patients will be given instructions on taking the partial/denture out nightly.

When a patient has no teeth present, a removable denture is the only option. Although nothing feels as good as natural teeth, a denture is the only option allowing patients to regain function so they can chew, smile and speak without feeling self-conscious.

Depending on a patient’s need, we offer teeth whitening, bonding, porcelain veneers, anterior crowns, etc

Teeth whitening can be taken home so you can do it on your own pace every night, or in office which is completed all at once in roughly a 2hr appointment 

Porcelain veneers are strictly for cosmetic enhancements and do not add strength or function to teeth. Veneers cover the front half of the tooth allowing you to enhance the color, shape, and possibly alignment of your tooth.

For permanent replacement of a severely broke down tooth, a missing tooth, or multiple teeth, an implant is the ideal treatment. The implant will be surgically placed by an Oral Surgeon and after it is healed, we permanently attach a crown on it, creating a very natural looking tooth.
